What Jobs Are Out There Without A Degree For Good Home Time?
My husband has been truck driving for the last three and a half years. We have a very good relationship and we both are torn over spending at least 5 days apart a week. To top this all off, we have a six month old precious baby girl and my husband feels that he is missing out on these priceless days he will never get back with her. Every day we feel a little bit more tense/sad and at a lost at what other job he can do and still support us (i dont hardly work because I am always watching my daughter). He doesnt have a degree and I am so desperate for ANY ideas (beyond those internet scams we have already tried out) that I am posting this online hoping that somebody would have some advice that would bring my husband home. Hes a hard worker and he deserves a chance to experiance his family. Please help! Any career ideas or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.

If he is outgoing and cleans up alright he can make a pretty good living in the restaurant business. The hours are flexible and you all could arrange that one of you work in the evening and one during the day with two days off a week, preferably the same days. Start with a ruby tuesdays or something equivalent, bust your a** and move on after a year to a nicer restaurant. Fine dining will get you anywhere from $25k to $100 k depending on where your at. I know it’s not the best option but it’s worked for me and I hope it helps at least until you can find something better. Good Luck! P.S. If you really want to shine in the business and move up quickly you have to continuously research and learn the business. For example the more you know about wine or any product for that matter the easier it will be to sell and the more money you will make. You have to be hungry.

have him look into local driving jobs instead of the long distance ones.
my bil switched to in-state only runs and the most he is away is one night now. and thats with a logging company.
there are a lot of companies that need drivers and your hubby has the most important thing. experience he can look at in town driving, in county and in state you will be surprised.
just dont limit yourselves only to the trucking companies. any company that needs its goods delivered needs good reliable drivers. since the baby is not in school and you are not working, it wont matter what days off or even what shift he has as you can match his schedule.
good luck and enjoy being able to stay home with the baby – it goes by so very fast.

My husband is also a truck driver, but he works in the same state we live in, in other words he leaves in the morning and comes back at night, with plenty of time to spend with the family, maybe try this instead of him being over the road?
