A mate of mine emigrated to Canada about 4 years ago & hasn’t looked back ( something to do with the large mirrors on the trucks ) He went through the selection process in Canada in the November, – it was minus 10.C, at the time I think, & finally moved 4 months later. The best place to look is in the UK truck magazines for the adverts & go from there. If I was 20 years younger I would give it a go, but I am too old (58) to be considered.

one of my friends went over there recently and got citizenship but apparently he had to give up his hgv entitlement and trade it for just a car and light van licence instead….as far as i’m aware the training and tests are very different over there…We have it easy here…we just have to drive the damn trucks, but in canada you expected to have general maintenance training and experience. i might be wrong and i guess this is just if you plan to live there, but bear in mind what they might expect you to know
