Why Do People Work In Jobs That They Obviously Hate ?

Hi Folks,
I know that we are not all in a position to pick & choose ideal employment, but when I encounter miserable and grumpy folks, who are fed up with their work life, I wonder “well, do something else more suited, then”.
I have chosen a career in an area of designing & installing power stations in remote parts of the world, so get to play with helicopters & big trucks etc.
My first college holiday job was putting thousands of toy tractor tyres on toy tractor wheels.
Soul destroying.
Surely, in an ideal work environment, which doesn’t exist, we should all strive to look forwards to going to work, as we then enjoy it as a big part of our lives.
What do you do, and what do you you reckon on this notion ?

Does Anyone Have A List Of All The Truck Companies That Do Interstate Runs. For Example Bunker Freight Lines?

I want to compile a list of all the truck companies that do interstate runs, prefably having a base that is in sydney, and that run HC, and MC trucks. A few that I know of are Bunker, Concord Park Transpport, Perth Freight Liners. I am interested in getting an interstate driving job. I am not to concerned who I work for at the moment, I just want to know every company that I could possibly apply to.

My husband has nine years of driving experience as a courier, and is looking to get into long haul trucking, but we cannot afford to pay for CDL license training. Does anyone know of any trucking companies in the Pacific Northwest area (Washington, Oregon) in the United States that pay for driver training and CDL licensing? Thanks very much!

Are There Any Careers That Have 5 Or More Weeks A Year Vacation Time Besides Teaching??

I am looking for a job with a $30k+ salary with 5 weeks or more off per year.This job does not have to have salary upside. Most countries give 20 to 25 vacation days per year.Everything I read is about how to make more money and I can find very little involving careers with more time off besides teaching.I live simple and am looking to take more vacations.I have an income stream from investments and would like to earn enough to pay my base bills.I have a Bachelors Degree in Finance and have been involved in the equities market.I live in Las Vegas and have worked valet and shuttle driving jobs over the past 10 years.These jobs do not allow me 5+ weeks per year off while full-time the rest of the year.I am considering getting my CDL and being a truck driver due to my love of driving and moving around.I have already submitted a question regarding the truck driving industry.Does anyone have a suggestion other than teaching for someone who is willing to sacrifice more money for time off?

Here is the problem that I’m running into. I work this company for like 3 to 4 months and I had like 4 minor incident or accidents as the truck driving/ insurance company call them. I have been searching for a job since March 2008 and I keep hearing the same thing, I need to get a year of safe driving in before they will even consider hiring me but how can I get that year in if no one wants to give me the opportunity to prove myself?

I was driving on us 6 and turning onto us35 in wanatah, indiana. As i was on the on ramp, i felt something in my trailer jerk and next thing i know i wake up and the truck and trailer is on its side. i have 2 witnesses stating i was going the speed i said i was going, and no major damage was done except to the truck. It was not my fault, i couldnt even get into the trailer to check to see if it was loaded right because it was a sealed load. I recieved no citations, no points on my license, just a phone call saying that my employment was terminated. Is there anybody that knows of a company that will even listen to what i have to say b4 they hang up. I need to get back out on the road asap… Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

After 9/11 they changed the way of doing business. Now they wanna make sure u keep outta trouble, not to mention insurance costs. You must wait 10 years after any felony in order to drive a truck.

my question is my husband want to make a cdl lisence and the officer told him that he can’t take a cdl license more than 1 year only because of his expiration date on his his EAD ? so he have to get a lisence for more than 2 years what shall we do?
CAN WE RENEW THE EAD CARD before it’s expiration date and if
yes , so by how many days can we do that ? and how does it take to renew it ? AND HOW MANY DAYS DOES IT TAKE TO RENEW THE DRIVING LISENCE?
