I currently work right now as a delivery driver for FIS, and i like driving around all the time. I picked 68w only because i heard it was a good job, but i have no interest there. Like blood and all that stuff doesn’t bother me, but i just cant really see myself doing that. Where i like driving trucks around and i am kind of a gear head. So i know what some of you will say, if you don’t want to do 68w then just don’t do it, but i wanna know from peoples personal experience at these jobs, is it a stupid idea to switch to 88m, and if so why? I would just like all the information available so 1. i make the right choice on the job and B. i am not unhappy coming in, thank you…..

Heres the situation…they lent me a truck to drive cuz my car broke down. My mom knew i was unemployed and only had enough money for rent. She threatened to report the truck stolen if i didnt pay her $500 for the truck. I told her the $500 i had left was goin towards rent which was $545.00. I ended up buying the truck cuz i need transportation to and from interviews for potential jobs. She was supposed to give me the title to the truck, but never gave it to me. I was unable to find a job in time, and had to move out still owing for one months rent cuz i didnt give a full 20 days notice. So i had to move back down to olympia with my stepdad. ( my parents are still going thru a divorce so it was just me and him ) Now, because i had to move…to a different county, my bills quickly piled up including one months rent still owed.

I’ve been driving truck over the road now (home only 2 days per week) for 2.6 years. I entered into my career with the understanding that after getting 1+ years of experience under my belt, I would be able to get a job that pays somewhat close to the same, and be back home every night. After putting in my dues, I’m still facing the same story and wondering if it will ever change. If I was aware I would have had to stay gone for the rest of my life, I would have never taken up with this profession.
The job isn’t completely bad. It’s a rather secure field, since there is a nation wide shortage of drivers. The pay has afforded me a very nice house (which costs enough money every month disallowing me to just quit) and many toys that my friends cannot have.

It’s warm enough to wear shorts and eat ice cream. My friend’s uncle owns an ice cream truck and he allowed my friend and I to drive it around and sell ice cream. We drove to random places. I think we were on the road for about 7 and a half hours or so. After all that was said and done, we came home with a total of $378.00! Yes, all that money for only 7 and a half hours of work. After seeing how much money could be made, I seriously thought about doing this full-time. Would this be a wise career move? Or should I just stay in school?

My certificates are outdated (clerical and medical assistant) and I want to do something that’s in demand. I can’t make up my mind on what career to commit to. Right now I’m thinking of truck driving (which is what my father and my son’s father does) or massage therapy. I’ve looked into so many work from home things, but they all seem like a rip off. I’m overweight and can’t stand too long, so I need something that’s gonna be easy on my body and in demand. Any advice? Oh and I owe $10k to FAFSA for the medical assistant school. I’m very poor and don’t know which direction to turn. I’ve done customer service, telemarketing, was a carny, did fast food, worked in a library, had a paper route, worked in a kitchen, did production, was a file clerk, and had endless unfinished trainings in forklift, sales (cutco, tupperware, avon, beauticontrol), bank teller, and I just can’t seem to find my niche.
I’m not motivated to get up and leave the house after being a shut in for so long, so I’m not into hustling people to buy anything. I just want to work, be in the zone, be helpful and important and be paid a decent wage for something I enjoy. What I enjoy is music, being on the computer and watching TV. I like taking pictures and want to help people in a way that doesn’t drain my soul. I can’t make up my mind. How do I get the motivation I need? Please help.
