Why Do People Work In Jobs That They Obviously Hate ?

Hi Folks,
I know that we are not all in a position to pick & choose ideal employment, but when I encounter miserable and grumpy folks, who are fed up with their work life, I wonder “well, do something else more suited, then”.
I have chosen a career in an area of designing & installing power stations in remote parts of the world, so get to play with helicopters & big trucks etc.
My first college holiday job was putting thousands of toy tractor tyres on toy tractor wheels.
Soul destroying.
Surely, in an ideal work environment, which doesn’t exist, we should all strive to look forwards to going to work, as we then enjoy it as a big part of our lives.
What do you do, and what do you you reckon on this notion ?

My husband has been truck driving for the last three and a half years. We have a very good relationship and we both are torn over spending at least 5 days apart a week. To top this all off, we have a six month old precious baby girl and my husband feels that he is missing out on these priceless days he will never get back with her. Every day we feel a little bit more tense/sad and at a lost at what other job he can do and still support us (i dont hardly work because I am always watching my daughter). He doesnt have a degree and I am so desperate for ANY ideas (beyond those internet scams we have already tried out) that I am posting this online hoping that somebody would have some advice that would bring my husband home. Hes a hard worker and he deserves a chance to experiance his family. Please help! Any career ideas or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Are there any jobs/careers aside from being a truck driver that and flight attendant that require you to be away from home? The jobs in our area of GA are very limited and my husband and I are seeking options in other states, even other countries for either one of us to take. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1. pizza delivery. it doesn’t pay much but on some nights, you could make a killing on tips.
2. phone books and newspapers distribution/delivery.
3. flowers delivery for smaller shops.
you can actually have all 3 jobs at the same time if you work out your schedule well.

Just Curious, How Many Others Out There Are Working Two Jobs. I Am A Teacher Who Also Drives Tractor-trailer.

It is a strange mix of jobs but I actually enjoy driving truck(usually Saturdays). It is a nice change of pace from the classroom.

Just to be clear on the matter–would Americans not apply and get hired for the jobs currently held by illegal aliens in this country? With unemployment as high as it is across this nation, would you applyand try to get jobs cleaning, at fast food places, mowing lawns, construction, truck driving, or any other type of work they are known to do?

Not sure if this matter much but
I’m 5′9 , Have regular driving license for 2 years now and my record is clean. Age 25
Any recommended jobs that are fast licensing and decent paying currently?
I know Truck driving has pretty decent pay but most of them require a CDL and 2 years of truck driving experience which I don’t have. Any recommended jobs out there, it doesn’t have to be about truck driving, just throw me some ideas out there. Thanks
I am just 25, so its going to be hard to get into any field right?
