New York City Class B (cdl) License Renewal?

My license is about to expire in a week and I was wondering does anyone know if I have to get a physical to renew a CDL license? Mine is Class B, meaning I can drive a truck with airbrakes (not a tractor trailer though) I can`t seem to get a clear answer from the DMV website but someone told me I do have to get a physical which right now is not something I can really afford. Just to renew the damn license costs $180 bucks!!! I can remember when it use to cost only $25!
