Is It Beneficial To Get A Cdl Driver License These Days.?
I have been a dispatcher for 8 years now. Never drove a truck for a living. Was considering getting a CDL just as a back up…especially in this econmy. Can anyone tell me if this is a good idea? Don’t really plan on being a proffesional truck driver in the long run.

Forget it. If you never drover a truck and you don’t plan to, you won’t be able to pass the test.
I used to be an instructor at a truck driving school. People paid up to $5000 to go to my school to learn how to drive well enough to pass the test. But, before you can even start the truck for the examiner, you have to inspect it, and while inspecting it, you have to tell the license examiner, one by one, which part you are inspecting, touch the part so the examiner will know you are examining the part you say you are inspecting, and tell what you are looking for. ONLY if you pass this part of the exam will you be allowed to start the truck and back it to where the examiner directs you. Then,if you pass both of those tests, you will be allowed to take the driving test. One of my duties as an instructor was to go retrieve the truck and drive it back whena student being tested failed the driving test for some minor infraction or mistake. From what you have said, there is no way you will pass the test, so don’t even consider a CDL until you go through a school, so you can learn something.about inspecting a truck and driving it and backing it properly..
Go in peace.
And, always remember: — Jesus loves you!!
Sincerely,
Uncle Floyd

If you do not plan on being a professional truck driver in the future than a CDL liscense is really not for you. It takes a lot of practice and hard work to learn to drive a big rig and if it is not for you, its simply not for you.
