Is A Truck Drive A Good Career?

father/grandpa is/were a garbage truck driver, ive loved them all my life, loved riding in them, now im old enough to get my class 3…is it a stable good career? my father tells me not to because u have to get up early and long hours, but i think its made for me….

    I have a gut feeling they want you to have a college education. Then decide if you want to become a truck driver. Maybe with your college degree you can start your own business.

    If you have the ability to further your education, that will improve your earnings capability. Maybe start truck driving for Fedexa dn attend community college. Truck driving is a good career and income, but many are seeing impacts due to rising gas prices. Sitting in a cab all day can be hard on your body over time.

    It all depends on your personal situation. I have been in the trucking industry for about 13 years now, but in the office as a Dispatcher. It takes it’s toll on marriages and family life! It is a good opportunity to see the country, but the trucking industry is going through an extremely tough time financially right now. Freight rates are at an all time low and there are a lot of drivers leaving the industry.

    i say for now its good but once u settle down and have a family its not the ideal job. its also good from when ur in college. but if its what yuou wanna do go for it
    - im new so if i can get a best answer thad help alot ( bc i have like maybe 100 points )

    I think it’s completly up to you, and not to the people on Yahoo! Answers.
    If you would enjoy doing that, then go for it!
    Maybe you could take some classes at a school or community college for some back up education if you get tired of doing your driving?

    My grandpa is a good truck driver and he has a good time! He likes it, and makes good money. They are good hours, too.
    I say go for it :)
