I Have No Current References. What Should I Do To Get Work?

I moved to get married and currently work in a bad over-the-road trucking job. I have no personal references, and this company will likely give me a decent reference or say only that I have speeding tickets and no DOT accidents. I have no friends currently and I’m aware family references are a sure sign you have no street credibility. What do you recommend.
What kinds of resources or jobs should I look for to change careers or if I lose this job.

I can’t think of a time in which an employer really wants a personal reference. Besides, most managers are skeptical of friends or family that are references as they make you out to be an angel.
As for the truck driving stuff, there is a special form that is typically used if you have a Class A or B CDL for references. Plus, your most recent boss, as long as you left on good terms should give you a letter of reference if you ask him/her to.
As for resources, check with your state department of employment or unemployment (depends what the state calls it). They often have free resources for you to tap into. There maybe a subsidized retraining program that you are eligible for. You never know till you ask.

It depends on your age. I’ve seen guys at 30 join the military to gain a skill. I joined the military for that same reason, a dead end. Fortunately I thought of seeking a skill that would easily tranfer into the civilan sector. If you are young enough go take the ASVAB at a recruitment center, no strings. If that isn’t an option the local Unemployment Office has programs that could provide assistance, they not just about handing out paychecks.

Blag it, put down your current job as your last ref but don’t put contact details, they will figure it’s cause you’re still there and understandably don’t want to risk contact. Put down the job before as your ref w. contact details, even if you shot the boss they often don’t check your second to last job as you put it down so there appears no reason to.

Well ,I drove for 29 years before I had my last heart attack , I had a lot of violations ,and still don’t have my CDL’s, ok now if you can and if your company will let you drive on a probation period ,until you can drop some of your tickets and then you go get you a better job, now you can’t get anymore tickets ok,now if that don’t work try heavy equipment ,something that don’t need to have you gone and you need a CDL to do the work, like work in a plant driving around the yard ,I done that at a place call Tyler Pipe in Texas ,worked in the plant but needed CDL’s it didn’t matter weather or not I had tickets ,see what I am saying, hope this help you out young person.

You should be able to get another Trucking job with no references.
