How To Become A Long Haul Truck Driver?
Can anyone give me the specific steps to becoming a long haul truck driver? What about the dangers associated with being a driver, also any statistics on overall costs and net income over a year. I don’t really have much of a family life and I prefer to be alone so I am interested in this as a career. Any information in greatly appreciated. By the way, I live in Atlanta, Georgia.

Best bet is to go to a company that has paid training or go to truck driving school and find a company that offers tuition reimbursement. That way your training to get your license would be free. As for money, first year drivers average 35k/yr and thats working your butt off. The dangers are the people on the road you have to deal with on a daily basis 4 wheelers and 18 wheelers. You have to watch out for weather and your own personal health. I would highly recommend going to Schneider or Roehl. But theres also Swift and CR England, which I highly discourage. Good luck.

You need to check out (drivers.com). trucking is looking for class -A drivers … many of the big companies are training ..many independent operaotors are failing because of high diesel prices … but with 1-2 yrs. experience .. you can make about $1000 a week working as a company driver …so with training costs covered by the company you could be on the road by yourself in a couple of months … The dangers are basically those involved in driving .. If you are a safe driver ,stay careful and you’ll be fine … when you train to be a Class-A driver you are taught a lot about safety issues , keeping logs , inspecting your vehicles and other things to do with the job . Again . if you are really interested check out drivers.com.. you should be able to hook up with some companies on that site …
Good Luck .
