How Is Truck Driving? And Is Anyone Familiar With C1 Truck Driving School?
With the job market so horrible, I am planning on getting a CDL and going into truck driving. C1 driving school (the Ft Worth location) is having some sponsorship programs right now. I am going up there this week to get signed up. Does anyone know about them?
Also, can anyone who has been driving tell me how the job is? What will I hate and love about it. I am going to have my laptop with me for my stops and I am going to bring my dog along for company (if they let me do that, I have seen truckers with dogs, different companies may have different rules though).

I cannot answer about the ft worth location…but my fiance went to the Indiana site and it was a joke. Rushed thru training, half the class dropped, not enough trainers, rude trainers, and then there was the fun with constant change of who he would drive with… first it was usa, then pam, then usa again…. then for no reason he was dropped. They “worked” to put him with another company who informed him that the training c1 gave him wasnt any better than a kindergaten education for a barbie jeep and unless c1 re~educates him they will let him go….and of course c1 says.. “you got a cdl, we’re done!!!”
So $6000+ in bills later, and that from training alone, he is unemployed. Plus all the money he is out from paying for meals for three weeks, all the equipment on the list they said he had to have prior to training began, transportation to and from class…. because c1 gets a discount from hotel, the hotel doesnt allow the students to use their transport system!!!
Plus, in that three week time, he had three new roomates and the only time the rooms were cleaned or they got new towels was if they called the front desk or went down and got them themselves!!!
And they do not allow you to have animals in the trucks!! Well at least in mid to late 2009 that was the rules that he was given cuz he wanted to bring his dog as well!!
