Help On Career?

Well im only 15 atm but when I was younger I always wanted to be a cop which my mom really loved cause she thinks it will help support a family and everything but lately I’ve seen trucks and have always been in to sights so I was looking up trucking. There is a show on the History channel that I love called “Ice road truckers” and been hoping to get in to that kinda stuff.
I’ll be going to college in 3 years and really wanted to try and start trucking at 18 but my parents want me to go to college first before I start careers and I feel is pointless if im going to be a trucker.
My mom has been giving me a hard time lately like saying “oh i heard police salaries are double truckers” etc and she just isn’t supporting me at all. it’s bothering and I don’t want to crush her feelings by telling her to shut up and back off etc.
What should I do?

Go to college and get a degree in something. You will always have it to fall back on if things don’t go the way you hoped. You might consider a degree in criminal justice.
You are only 15 and your choices might change in the next few years, so don’t get so hung up on it right now.

my oppinion is just that, an oppinion, but i do have some experience that may help guide you.
trucking can make alot more money than cops. you get to travel. its what you want to do.
now look at this. when you were younger you wanted to be a cop. things change and so do our dreams. if you p[lan on having a family then trucking may not be a great idea. as your health fails in years to come, you may not be able to pass a physical any more. then what. savings i hope.
there is a good chance that as a trucker, you will get married, have kids, miss alot of there life, come home from a trip early and catch your wife with another man. life gone to crap huh.
its a lonely life.but someone has to do it. its not for family men.
on the other hand if you go to college and have something to fall back on. you can do it for a few years, major in buisness, become an owner operater, hire drivers, and make more money and only travel when you want. or give it up and go into the corporate world and make alot of money and still be home with your family every night.
my experience: i dropped out of college to join the military. i had a new born and a wife. i traveled so much i never saw my lil girl and ended up divorced. ended up getting out so i could spend more time with my kid and now i cant get a job making as much as i did in the service. its worth the sacrifice but if i would have stayed in school i would be better off now.
you may not realize it now but in the next several years you will realize your parents are not telling you what to do but triing to guide you to a better life that you will be happy with in the future, not just for the next couple of years.
hope i hepled a little. good luck with your dreams.
