Does The Texas State Guard Train Unskilled Enlisted In Things Like Welding, Nursing, Or Truck Driving?

Their website does not say.
I’m past the age for regular military, but am interested in joining Texas State Guard. I’m female, have no prior military experience, and have only ever worked general labor jobs. I do have a class A CDL, with hazmat and tanker. But I have no truck driving experience, and would need some additional training before I would be fit to drive a class A vehicle.

Just for the record, because no one seems to know… the Texas State Guard is not the same as the Texas National Guard!
I am in the Texas Army National Guard, but know very little about the Texas State Guard other than they exist. I know they do not get paid and do not necessarily train like regular army or National Guard. They are not well funded and do not receive pay even though they have regular monthly drills. The only times they do are when they are officially “mobilized” by the state to augment the Texas National Guard. You do not need any prior military experience and only need to be anywhere from 18-60. The Texas Guard is largely just a group of unpaid volunteers who get together and utilize their skills to accomplish a given task. There really is no formal training though some of the members may have connections who could help you get your license.
Many of the “commissioned” officers in the Texas Guard are former military officers who have retired and just want to continue serving in some capacity.

Isolation20 is correct. The other answers all think you are talking about the National Guard.
The TX State Guard often shares resources with the NG, and they may train you locally with a Guard unit.
You won’t go to an Army school if that’s what you mean.

Yes, when you join the Guard you do all of the same training as the regular army. You could be a truck driver in the guard.

Not if you’re over 41, no you can’t enlist. You’d have to meet the same requirements as the regular army.
