Does Anyone Know Anything About Roadmaster Truck Driving School?
I don’t know much about trucking so I don’t even know if I’ll like it. The course is 4 weeks long but I don’t know if this is enough time to go from not knowing much about it to being comfortable enough to get a truck driving job.

I am a truck driver and I went to community college for mine, which was 6 weeks (not near enough time in my opinion). There are several trucking companies that offer training to get your CDL and then they cut you lose with an actual “on-the-road” trainer. Meaning you team drive with another person (trainer) and actually preform the duties you normally would by yourself. I would recommend this before anything else. US Express (this is the better of the choices I have listed), Hogan, Werner, Schneider all offer these.
While going to school is good to OBTAIN your CDL they teach just enough to pass your test and that is it. I was fortunate to not have to go to a company, but went to school for my CDL and my husband (who is a truck driver) taught me the rest. You don’t even have a clue until you are out there with 80,000lbs and on icy road of what to do and when your new your first reaction is to freak! Not the best way to get that beast stopped. Good luck and go for it! Driving a rig is a freedom that you can not explain.

I would hit some of the trucking companies about going thru that school, then getting a job. Some of those schools have placement deals but they are with the long haul, gone for 2 months at a time operations. I have driven for 16 years and have found that if a company doesn’t have a terminal in your area, You better have some pictures cause its going to be a L O N G time before you get back home. Also go in and talk to the school about placement. Otherwise. MAybe go tlak to some of the dump trucking outfits around where you are. Perhaps they could hook you up with a little experience without having to pay for it.
